Hunting halted due to encroaching people

LEWISTON, Idaho — Hunting in the Confluence Island Habitat Management Unit near Lewiston, Idaho, is banned starting Jan. 1.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, City of Lewiston and Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG), are redesignating the Idaho side of the unit as a safety zone due to its proximity to developed and urban areas.
“The discharge of a firearm will no longer be allowed in this section and will be enforced by Title 36, IDFG, and the City of Lewiston,” stated a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spokesperson.
Lewiston’s City Ordinance 4619 prohibits discharging a firearm in city limits....
