Bulldogs girls take two wins against Riverside, Clarkston

CHATTAROY — The Colfax Bulldogs girls basketball team traveled to Chattaroy to defeat the Riverside Rams 48-30 on Dec. 10 and the Clarkston Bantams on Dec. 7.

The Bulldogs jumped off to good start leading the Rams 22-10 at halftime. The second half was close with Colfax outscoring Riverside by 3 points in both quarters for a final 48-030 victory.

Bulldog Brynn McGaughy scored 18 points with 8 baskets and 2 successful free throws.

Asher Cai added 13 points from 5 baskets and by shooting 100% from the free throw line for another 3 points.

Jaisha Gibb scored 8 points for Colfax with 2 baskets and by shooting 100% from the free throw line for another 4 points.

The Colfax girls basketball team made it look easy to beat the visiting team the Clarkston Bantams 60-39 on Dec. 7.

Colfax took off offensively scoring twice the points of their opponent to end the first quarter 17-8. By half time, the Bulldogs led 31-19. The Bantams outscored Colfax in the third quarter by 1 point (11-10) but the Bulldogs roared back to add 19 points in the fourth quarter as Clarkston managed 9 points to end the game 60-39.

The top scorer for Colfax was Cai. She made 3 baskets and sank 6 3-pointers to score 24 points. Cai had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

McGaughly shot 50% from the court adding 14 points.

“McGaughy had a double-double, with 14 points and 17 boards,” said Colfax Coach Jordan Holmes.

Gibb dropped 2 3-pointers in addition to 2 baskets for 10 points. She had 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
