YAKIMA - The Oakesdale Nighthawks are the 2021 1B State Volleyball champions.
"We've had our setbacks this season with car accidents and COVID and health issues ... I had a baby in July ... we had a lot of challenges we hadn't faced before and they overcame them as we played as family," said Oakesdale Coach McKinzie Turner.
The Nighthawks overcame their challenges to play through the Southeast 1B East season, District 9 playoffs, and state 1B tournament without losing a single game.
"We haven't lost a match since the 2019 state championship when we lost to Pomeroy by 2 points," Turner said....
