Colfax Bulldogs volleyball takes 13th

Tournament had 42 teams, 39 were larger than Colfax

SPOKANE – Colfax entered the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic as one of 42 teams playing and earned 13th place.

The two-day tournament was Sept. 24-25 at Ferris High School. The Bulldogs faced 39 schools that are larger than Colfax.

The first games were pools of teams with winning two out of three matches to decide each.

Colfax defeated Kellogg, a 3B school from Idaho, (13-25, 25-19, and 15-13) then West Valley, a 2A team, (25-13, 25,13), and Lewis and Clark, a 4A team, (25-21, 25-18).

The Bulldogs advanced to the Gold Bracket where things changed.

Colfax lost to Post Falls, a 5A team from Idaho, (16-25, 26-24, 11-15), and Mt. Spokane, a 3A school, in a single match for placement (19-25).

"We played extremely well and had a great showing, up against big schools and great competition," said Colfax Coach Brandy Brown.

During the tournament, Abree Aune had 9 aces and 27 digs.

Justice Brown provided 67 assists and 20 digs.

Asher Cai added 21 kills and 3 blocks.

Jaisha Gibb provided 30 digs.

Delaney Imler added 12 kills and 3 blocks.

Theresa Stolle had 18 kills and 8 blocks.

Lauryn York gathered 13 kills and 27 digs.

"I am very pleased with our team as a whole. We had strong consistent play and great chemistry," said Brown.
