Cook siblings shine for Garfield-Palouse track

RITZVILLE - Kennedy and Ethan Cook led Garfield-Palouse to second and sixth place team finishes at the May 7 district meet.

For the Vikings, Ethan Cook won the 400 meters and finished second in the 100 and 200. Jaxson Orr was second in the triple jump. Harvard-bound senior Danny Laughary finished fourth in the 800 and fifth in the 1600.

For the girls, Kennedy came from behind in the 400 meters to win, breaking a school record that stood since 2006. She finished second in the 200 and second in the girls 4X100 relay with Noemie Appel, Zoe Laughary and Kara Blomgren.

In the girls' 800-meter relay, the Vikings' team of Samantha Pfaff, Appel, Blomgren and Laughary took first.

Samantha Snekvik finished second in the 3200. Garfield-Palouse's Laynie Southern, Lola Edwards, Kodi Gibbler and Snekvik got second in the 1600 relay.
