Oakesdale-Pomeroy girls showdown set

The Southeast 1B powers will meet a second time.

Playing at Pomeroy Friday night, Oakesdale will go against the unbeaten Pirates, whom they lost to 43-40 at home Dec. 20.

With five league games remaining, Oakesdale (11-3, 5-1) and Pomeroy (13-0, 6-0) in first and second place, this could decide the regular season league title.

"Play relentless defense and play team basketball," said Nighthawks Coach Heidi Perry of her team's directive.

How will they handle Pomeroy's Maddy Dixon inside?

"With somebody like that, it's gonna be a team effort," said Perry.

Game time is 6 p.m.

Olivia Kjack led St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse with 13 points while Drew Brewer got 11 and Brooklyn Bailey 10.

Touchet 32

Oakesdale traveled to Touchet Jan. 18 for their second win over the Indians on a night which senior captain and shooting guard Julie Baljo went out with a cracked rib, after being landed on diving for a loose ball. She is expected to be able to return sometime before the end of the season.

"I just believe things will turn out okay," said Coach Perry.

Seven players again scored for the Nighthawks (11-3, 5-1 league) while sophomore Kaylee Hinnenkamp had eight rebounds.

"I love rebounds," said Perry. "You can never do too much rebounding. You can dribble too much, shoot too much, pass too much, but never rebound too much."

In a low-scoring affair at home, Oakesdale picked up another league win as seven different players scored.

"Gar/Pal's a very good defensive team," said Perry.
