Colfax girls stack three wins

Colfax girls stacked three straight wins during the week to stretch their season record to 5-1. The Bulldogs defeated a determined Columbia of Burbank team 45-39 on the Colfax court Friday night.

They traveled to St. George’s Saturday and played a close game with the Dragons before pulling out a 43-36 win.

Tuesday on the home court the Bulldogs out-paced a young Tekoa/Rosalia team for a 56-13 win in the first league game of the season.

Friday night on the home boards, Colfax worked to take 22-17 lead in the first half against the Coyotes.

Columbia’s Jaydyn Johnson, who was sidelined with three fouls in the first half, led a charge by the guest in the third quarter. She finished with a game-high 23 points.

Columbia came within a point 33-34 after Serenity Kinsey hit a pair of toss shots. Johnson followed that with a three-pointer for a 36-35 Coyote lead and it went to 38-35 when Taelyn Dyer dropped a pair of toss shots with 2:40 left.

Asher Cai answered for Colfax with a three-pointer and followed that with another bucket to regain the lead.

The Coyotes had just one more point, a toss shot by Dyer, in the last two minutes.

It ended at 45-39 with Cai hitting two toss shots and Hannah Baerlocher adding one.

Saturday at St. George’s the Bulldogs and Dragons tied at 18-18 in the first half, but Colfax pulled away in the second half for a 43-36 win.

Kierstyn York led the Bulldogs with 12 points, and the Bulldogs finished with five three-point shots in the 43-36 win.

Tuesday, Colfax hit an early pace against Tekoa/Rosalia. York finished 15 and Cai finished with 10.

Colfax will travel to Asotin Friday night to wrap up the pre-Christmas part of the season. The Panthers will host after topping Upper Columbia Academy 46-41 in Tuesday action.
