Fete set for Moores' 50th

An open house reception to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of the Rev. Donald and Peg Moore of Colfax will be Sunday, Aug. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Colfax Church of the Nazarene. The Moores have served the church here for more than 31 years. Don Moore was born in Atlanta, Texas, and his bride, Peg Berry, was born in Kansas City, Kan. They met in 1967 at Bethany Nazarene College where Peg was studying physical education and Don was a ministerial student. They were married Aug. 8, 1969, in Kansas City.

Don then attended Nazarene Theological Seminary from 1969-71, while Peg worked at an animal vaccination laboratory. They then moved to Roseburg, Ore., for an associate pastor position for two years before he became the senior pastor of the Silverton, Ore., Church of the Nazarene for three years. They then went to pastor for 11 years at the Church of the Nazarene in Lincoln City, Ore., where they had two children, daughter, Randee, born in 1975, and son, Chris, in 1977. They then arrived in Colfax to pastor the Church of the Nazarene.
