Colfax softball wraps league run on 4 wins

Colfax girls finished their run through the NE-south league this week with four straight wins on the home turf at McDonald Park. The Bulldogs took both sides of a double bill Saturday with Asotin, and finished the league run Tuesday with two wins over Tekoa/Rosalia.

The four-game run left Colfax with just one defeat for the NE-south. Liberty, which split with Colfax last week at Pullman, is the lone league team to top the Bulldogs.

Tuesday, Colfax booked a 12-0 win over the Timberwolves in the first game with freshman Jorja Koerner allowing TR just three hits in a game which stopped on the 12-run rule after five innings. Koerner struck out six and walked just one.

Shyah Antoine doubled and singled to top the Colfax hits, and Perry Imler and Riane Jones each tagged two singles.

Hannah Thies pitched for TR and had one of the three hits for the visitors. Paige Brown and Elise Wilkins had the other hits.

Colfax took the the second game 11-1 with Justice Brown and Delaney Imler throwing.

Perry Imler had three of the 11 Colfax hits and booked four RBIs in the game. Helina Hahn also had a double and two singles for the Bulldogs.

Wilkins pitched for the T-wolves and had one of their three hits. Paige Brown and Naomi Meredith had the other raps for TR.

Saturday Colfax rapped Asotin 11-2 in the first game and escaped with a 3-2 win in the second game for a sweep.

The Bulldogs opened with seven runs in the first inning to start the big win in the first game. Jorja Koerner, who pitched both games for Colfax, allowed four hits in the opener, struck out seven and walked just one Asotin batter.

Colfax rapped nine hits in the first game with Hahn tagging a double and a single and Jones, Imler and Antoine each adding a double.

Asotin pegged a 1-0 lead at the start of the second game, but Colfax took the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Asotin tied it at 2-2 with a score in the bottom of the fifth, but Colfax scored the winning run in the top of the sixth.

Koerner allowed the Panthers just two hits in the second game, and struck out four batters. She also led the Colfax bats with a double and a single. Justice Brown had a double, and Kyla Hanson and Anni Cox each had two singles.
