Both 10th at Nike-Van Kuren: Colfax boys, Oakesdale girls bag track wins

Kaylee Hinnenkamp hands off to anchor LouEllen Reed for the last leg in the 4 x 100 relay race. The Oakesdale team placed third in the event.

Colfax boys topped 170 points Tuesday to edge Asotin in a nine-team meet that turned out to be the season opener for the Schmuck Park track.

Oakesdale girls scored 149 points to edge Asotin by over 27 points which brought 10 schools to the Colfax track in still-cold running conditions.

The Colfax boys posted the home win after placing 10th in the giant Nike-Van Kuren meet Saturday which was hosted by Cheney on the Spokane Falls Community College track. Colfax bagged 16 points.

The super meet logged 52 teams with Mountain View from Meridian, Idaho, taking the team with 88 points.
