Colfax softball team rolls 3-1 vs. NE foes

Colfax softball team booked a 3-1 mark over their last four games with the loss Friday at Asotin ending their streak of early season wins. The Bulldogs remain at the front of the NE-South league with the Lind-Ritzville-Sprague Broncos booked as the last league test Saturday at McDonald field.

Colfax was booked for a non-leauge double against Pomeroy Wednesday in a possible season opener for McDonald Park which has been sidelined by April rains.

Friday at Asotin Colfax took the opener 5-4 with a score in the bottom of the eighth inning after the teams locked at 4-4 in the seventh. Colfax scored three runs in the fourth inning for a 4-1 lead, but Asotin came back with two in the fifth and one more in the sixth to tie it up.

Pitcher Abbie Miller allowed the Panthers five hits in the opener. Miller, Helina Hahn and Maddy Shrope each doubled in the opener.

In the second game, Colfax scored four runs in the first inning, but Asotin came back with four runs in the fourth to tie it up. They took the 5-4 win with another run in the fifth.

Miller doubled and singled. Perry Imler doubled and Shyah Antoine had two singles to lead the nine-hit attack for the Bulldogs.

Kennedy Schmidt pitched into the sixth inning and Miller came back to the pitcher’s ring to finish out the game.

Asotin had seven hits in the game with Myka Lee tagging a homer and a single.

Last Wednesday at Liberty, Colfax extended its string of wins with scores of 11-3 and 16-1 over the Lancers. Colfax capped it with four runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Miller allowed six hits and struck out eight.

Chelsea Becker hit four-for-four with a homer, two doubles and a single. Hahn tripled and singled, and Miller doubled and singled.

Liberty pitcher Jaideyn Stephens led the Lancer bats with a double and single.

In the second game, Colfax pitcher Schmidt held the Lancers to three hits while the Bulldogs totaled 13 hits. Miller homered and singled, and Greta Geier and Imler each tagged a triple and a single. Becker doubled and singled to put her hit total at six for the day.
