Colfax opens season with 2 wins at Asotin

Colfax baseball team started the season Friday with two wins at the Asotin tournament. They edged Weiser, Idaho, 4-2 in the opener with Parker Huber pitching the first six frames and Kyle Appel pitching in the seventh.

Colfax scored two runs in each of the first two innings to take the lead.

Nate Akesson had two hits with a triple and Layne Gingerich also had two hits. Huber doubled.

In the second game Colfax hammered Grangeville 16-1 with a 14-hit attack. Pitcher Cal Gregory allowed five hits in taking the win.

Gregory and Kieron Anderson each had three hits with a pair of doubles, and Huber had two raps with a double. Akesson and Evan Henning each added two hits.

The Bulldogs are slated to travel to Orofino today for their third game of the season and then start league action with two games at Reardan Saturday.
