Chewelah gets okay to join NE 2B league

Chewelah has been granted approval by the state WIAA to compete in the 2B division next year. Addition of Chewelah has been anticipated by NE 2B League officials for the last couple of years.

According to the Feb. 8 Chewelah Independent, Chewelah’s enrollment for the first six high school grades has dropped to 202 students. After the WIAA’s 2016 classification cycle the school had been listed with 216 students.

Chewelah has been competing as an A division school in the NE league with long-standing rivalries against neighbors like Deer Park and Colville.
