Pomeroy, Oakesdale, Gar/Pal top three into postseason

Southeast 1B league play concluded its regular season last weekend with the standings unchanged. Pomeroy (18-2, 11-2) and Oakesdale (17-3, 12-2) are deadlocked at the top with Garfield/Palouse (14-5, 9-3) right behind in third place.

Because of a draw before the season, Pomeroy will be the no. 1 seed for the District Nine tournament, beginning Thursday at home sites. Oakesdale is at no. 2 followed by Gar/Pal at no. 3.

The six teams in the district tournament will contend for two spots to advance toward state.

Oakesdale 59, Colton 45

Playing at Colton Feb. 3, Oakesdale took down the Wildcats as Kieron Anderson scored 19 points, and Matt Hockett added 15 in a game that concluded the regular season for both teams.

Reece Chadwick scored a game-high 20 points for Colton, shooting 7-for-11 on a night which his team led 28-25 at halftime.

Oakesdale got a hold of the lead in the third quarter and then outscored Colton 19-9 in the fourth.

Jacob Himes had 10 points for Oakesdale and Parker Druffel 11 for Colton.

Garfield/Palouse 52, Touchet 44

Sophomore Blake Jones led the Vikings with 26 points as Gar/Pal won at Touchet Feb. 3, coming back from a 38-31 deficit in the fourth quarter, using a full-court press. Jones shot 10-for-12 from the field. Ely Hawkins added nine points for Gar/Pal.

Caden McKeown led Touchet with 12 points and Dominic Preciado scored 7.

Garfield/Palouse 81, Colton 51

Junior post Ely Hawkins delivered 32 points to lead the Vikings at home Friday while Blake Jones had 12 points and 10 rebounds on a night which the team shot 58 percent from the field. Tanner Anderson scored 16 points and Daniel Orfe had nine on his senior night.

Reece Chadwick led Colton with 22 points while Parker Druffel got seven.
