Bulldogs V-netters face Broncos in NE semi today

Colfax senior Madi Cox of Colfax hit 14 of 16 serves in the first playoff round.

Colfax volleyball players will face Lind/Ritzville/Sprague today in a semi-final match when the NE contenders move the final playoff action to St. George’s. The semi-final matchups emerged from the first round of actions last Thursday at Davenport and Reardan.

Top-seeded Colfax extended their win string by rolling with a sweep over the Springdale Chargers, and LRS advanced with a win over Wilbur/ Creston in the first round at Davenport.

The other semi will match Northwest Christian and Liberty. The Crusaders topped Asotin in the first round, and Liberty stopped St. George’s.

Both semi matches will begin today at 4:30 in the Dragons’ big gym.

The two semi-final winners will play at 7:30 for the NE title. The loser will take the number-two slot to the state show. One more state ticket will go to the team which makes it through two more matches in the consolation bracket.

Colfax last Thursday at Davenport scored six quick points against Springdale which arrived as the number-four team from the league’s north side. The Bulldogs had the lead all the way, and Coach Sue Doering called out the bench for action against the Chargers.

Line score for the Colfax win in the opener was 25-7 25-12 25-13.

Springdale was eliminated by the Wilbur/Creston Wildcats in the second round, and Asotin was shut down for the season by St. George’s.
