Oakesdale, Colton bag V-net wins

Oakesdale Tuesday downed Garfield/Palouse in three straight, 25-12 25-14 and 25-9. Logan Reed had 14 kills against the Vikings, and Madison Shrope put up 22 assists and hit four aces,

Payson Griner had four kills and five blocks for the Vikings.

Saturday the Nighthawks advanced as far as the semi-final round of the SunDome tourney in Yakima before they bowed to Granger, the team which wound up with the title with a win over Napavine in the championship round.

That put Oakesdale among the top four finishers in the dome tourney which began with 32 teams from A, 2B and 1B schools.

Oakesdale rolled up a 5-1 mark in pool play and topped Goldendale 27-25 and 25-21 in the quarter finals. Granger stopped them in the semi, 25-18 and 26-24.

Colton Tuesday downed the LaCrosse/Washtucna/Kahlous Tigercats 25-10 25-20 and 25-8 on the Wildcats court. Emily Schultheis and Jordyn Moehrle each hit eight kills against the Tigercats. Moehrle and Josie Schultheis each had 15 digs.

The Wildcats hosted the Tigercats after rolling to a second-place finish Saturday at the Rosalia Spikefest.

Liberty dropped Colton 25-17 and 25-19 in the championship match.

Colton advanced to the final match with a win over Asotin 13-25 25-18 25-10.

Liberty advanced with a two game win over the Tigercats, 25-21 25-19.

Colton advanced to the semi round with a 25-13 27-25 win over Prescott.

St. John/Endicott sustained a three-game loss Tuesday to Pomeroy on the Pirates court, 25-20 25-7 and 25-21.

Sydney Smith hit 19-20 serving and Sydney Watco hit 16 for 16 for the Pirates.

Colton also took out Asotin in three games in Thursday non-league action, 25-9 25-19 and 25-12 with Emily Schulthies booking eight kills, nine digs, three aces and two blocks. Josie Schultheis hit five aces, and Abby Kelly put up 10 assists.

Garfield/Palouse Thursday swept Tekoa/Rosalia in three games on the Vikings court. Line score was 25-14 25-14 25-14.

Griner hit eight kills and had 16 digs for the Vikings and Denni Fealy put up 14 assists. Katie Arrasmith hit eight kills, and Kenzi Pederson hit four aces.
