Colfax V-netters take Okanogan

Colfax volleyball players swept the Okanogan tournament with a string of two-game wins Saturday to run their early season record to 9-1. The Bulldogs finished with an early season title round against the Toutle Lake Ducks, one of the usual foes when state tournament action launches at the SunDome.

Colfax stopped the Ducks in two games 25-16 and 25-19 for the title.

This was the 10th straight year Colfax has topped the Okanogan test. Last year they also collided with Toutle Lake in the championship round.

The Bulldogs and Ducks matched up Saturday for the title after each logged three wins in pool play.

Colfax booked two-game wins over Omak, Waterville/Mansfield, and Meridian to get to the title win.

The Ducks took out Davenport, Bear Creek and Okanogan on the way to the title match.

Carmen Gfeller hit 39 kills and Piper Cai hit 17 kills in the eight-game run.

Kylie Kackman put up 68 assists. Cai had 15 digs, and she and Gfeller each hit eight aces in the series.

Colfax is scheduled to play at Asotin today and then travel to Reardan Saturday. Both will be league rounds

They will return to the home court next Thursday with the LRSW Broncos as the guests.
