Susan Lynn Foster

A memorial service for Susan Foster, 69, Palouse, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Palouse Federated Church with a reception following at the Palouse Community Center.

Mrs. Foster died in her home Sept. 1, 2017, following a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Born Dec. 30, 1947 to Dr. Floyd and Anita Hamstrom in Burlington, she graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1966 and from the University of Puget Sound in 1970.

She began her teaching career in Pullman at Franklin Elementary School in 1970, and she remained there as a third and fourth grade teacher until she retired in 2003.

In August of 1970, Sue married Greg Reault, and they had two sons, Erik in 1978 and Kyle in 1981. They later divorced, and in 2005, she married Jerry Foster. They built a house above the river in Palouse.

Sue was a member of the Whitman County Retired Teachers, P.E.O. Chapter FZ and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Group. She attended the Palouse Federated Church.

She traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and Italy. She also enjoyed spending time at Laird Park.

Surviving are her husband, Jerry, Palouse; sons Erik Reault, Sammamish; Kyle (Melissa) Reault, Duvall; one sister, Sally Dutton, Nevada City, Calif .; and five grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Palouse Federated Church or Friends of Hospice.

Karlton Kimberling

Funeral mass for Karlton (Karl) Lester Kimberling, 80, former Colfax resident who has resided in Culdesac, Idaho, for the past 15 years, was Wednesday, Sept. 6, at All Saints Catholic Church in Lewiston. He will be buried beside his wife at Freeze Cemetery, Potlatch, at a later date. Mr. Kimberling died Aug. 14, 2017.

Born in Moscow, Idaho, to Paul M. and Ruth Taylor Kimberling, he was the second oldest of five siblings. He graduated from Moscow High School in 1955 and married Shirley Christine Johnson Jan. 24, 1959, in Moscow.

Karl worked several jobs and later joined the Washington State University in the library department.

The Kimberlings moved to Colfax in 1979, and resided here until 2004 when they moved to Culdesac. They served as camps hosts at Powell and at Wilderness Gateway. He enjoyed picking huckleberries for his wife and following the Seahawks and Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Mrs. Kimberling died in 2015.

Surviving are two sons, Kevin (Teresa), Colfax, and KC at Culdesac, Idaho; daughters MariPaul (Clinton) Gazaway, Spokane, and Kathryn (Sam) Kimberling, Moscow; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
