Colfax softball splits

Colfax softball players Tuesday booked a split with Pomeroy in the season opener March 20. Coach Michelle Miller noted the action was the first time the team was able to play on a dirt infield due to the rainy weather.

The second game was closed down after five innings when rain again hit the area. Colfax took the seven inning opener 16-9 with 17 hits. Pomeroy pegged a 6-4 lead after four innings, but Colfax rolled out 12 runs in the last three frames with six in the bottom of the last inning.

Pitcher Abbie Miller allowed six hits, struck out seven batters and walked 14.

Lindsey Lindgren and Cheyanne Stokes each tagged homers for the Bulldogs, and Lindgren added three singles. Chelsea Baker and Miller each tagged a triple.

The teams locked up in a 5-5 tie after three innings in the second game, and Pomeroy dropped the hammer with seven runs in the fourth inning. The Pirates won 12-9.

Madi Shrope started for Colfax, and Lindgren relieved her in the fourth inning.

Greta Geier rapped an in-the-park homer, and Miller hit three singles. Each team had nine hits in the second game.
