Tekoa/Rosalia girls win first district round

Tekoa/Rosalia girls Tuesday night dropped Kettle Falls 57-46 in the first district playoff game at West Valley. The opener matched the fifth and sixth-place finishers from opposite sides of the league.

Hannah Beach hit 22 points for the T-wolves, who posted a 29-18 lead at the half and played Kettle even over the last two quarters. Logan Dempsey dropped six points for the Timberwolves.

Tekoa/Rosalia girls today will go up against Liberty in the second round of the playoffs at West Valley.

The TR girls finished the league run with a 3-13 record, and Kettle Falls finished with a 2-14 mark.

Tekoa/Rosalia boys were stopped by Wilbur/Creston 68-27 in the Tuesday playoff action in another playoff between the fifth and sixth place teams from opposite sides of the league. The Wildcats stacked a 42-27 lead over the T-wolves and made it stick over the last two quarters.

Noah Beach led TR with eight points, and Mitchell Billings hit seven.

Tekoa/Rosalia went into the playoffs as a sixth-place qualifier with a 2-14 record in the league run, and the Wildcats finished in fifth on the north side with a 5-11 record.

Under the tournment's double elimination format, the TR boys will play again Saturday in an elimination game against one of the teams which comes out of the Thursday round with a 1-1 record.
