Empire will

show 'Chicago'

Tekoa's Empire Theatre will sponsor a free showing of “Chicago,” a PG-13 rated movie, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. Children younger than age 13 will not be permitted without a family member in attendance.

The story line follows two women to prison for domestic violence and combines a musical into the format.

The showing will be a concession fundraiser for the Tekoa Community Church youth group. Concessions and movie popcorn will be served with all proceeds going to raise money to send the kids to camp this summer.

Popcorn will be free to members of the Tekoa Empire Theatre. For membership information, please contact Fran Martin in Tekoa.

Truffles, soup

The art of making chocolate truffles is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown with registrations required by Jan. 30.

Vicki Leeper, owner of Pullman-based Dancing Chocolates, will be instructor for the truffle class.

The cost is $40.

Squash Soup and Soccas will be Feb. 15 with registrations required by Feb. 13. The class fee is $45.

Soup instructor will be Gretchen Stoops, a chef and nutritional healer with training in France, and a degree from the Culinary Institute of America. She worked 10 years as a personal chef in the San Francisco Bay area before returning to Moscow.

CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS

PEO

Colfax PEO Chapter AF will host a Valentine tea and style show Sunday, Feb. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Colfax. Cost will be $20 per person. Money raised by the event will go toward the local PEO scholarship fund.

The event will feature a style show with models displaying clothing from Tick Klock Drug. Tickets are available through Feb. 3 at Tick Klock Drug or by contacting Dana Carroll at 509-397-3973. Seating is limited.

Pullman LWV

Judy Meuth of Citizens Climate Lobby will be the speaker at the Pullman League of Women Voters meeting Feb. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Umpqua Bank, 225 N. Grand Ave., Pullman. A social half hour with snacks will begin at 6:30.

Troy Henderson, director of Public Health for Whitman County, will be the speaker for the league's brown bag session Feb. 16 from noon to 1 p.m. at Community Congregational Church, 525 NE Campus Drive.

Rosalia

Garden Club

Members will meet Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Rosalia United Methodist Church with Penni Barriner as hostess.

Guest speaker will be David Yarborough, WSU Master Gardener. His topic will be "Pruning Home Fruit Trees."

The craft design workshop scheduled for Jan. 27 has been changed to Feb. 22.
