Asotin's Panthers are booked to play at Colfax Friday for their hoop debut in the NE league. The Panthers will launch their season after rolling all the way to the semi-final round on the football playoffs. During their run, they posted two wins over Colfax.

The Asotin boys game will be first on the Friday night ticket at Colfax.

Colfax started the season last week with a solid win over the Colton boys in the home opener and then sustained a five-point loss, 43-48, to Lakeside in a road trip Saturday to Nine Mile.

Coach Reece Jenkin and the Bulldogs launched the new season with Keith Gfeller, Kenton Lyman, Dustyn Hall and Jacob Soncarty graduated from last year's crew.

Two returnees, Danny Robinson, now a senior, and Carson Cloaninger, a sophomore, had big nights in the season start Friday against Colton. Cloaninger, who won the most improved trophy at the end of last year's season, unloaded for 27 points Friday in the 58-37 win over the Wildcats. He rolled up six three-point shots against the shorter Colton club. Robinson finished with 13 points.

Top scorer for the Wildcats was Brady Chadwick with 11 points.

Colfax started with a 15-6 lead in the first quarter and had a 31-16 lead at the break. They added 12 points to take the lead in the third quarter.

Robinson and fellow senior Jared Kneale led Colfax rebounds.

Friday at Lakeside, Robinson led the Bulldogs with 15 points, and Kneale and Cloaninger each scored eight points against the Eagles.

Colfax actually posted a 33-31 lead over the hosts going into the last quarter, but Lakeside ripped 17 points in the last quarter to take the win.

After hosting Asotin Friday, Colfax will travel to Ritzville Saturday night to play the Broncos in the second league round.

The Broncos opened their season Saturday with a 63-48 win over the SJE Eagles.
