Ornament class

Next Thursday, Nov. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., Dahmen Barn in Uniontown will host a session on Christmas ornaments using the age old technique of painting with hot, colored wax.

Complimentary wine and appetizers will be served. This is the second in a series of wine and art workshops that are offered once a month on Thursday evenings.

Resident artist Kat Clancy, leader of this session, will bring materials, but participants may bring some Christmas themed papers for this wax collage project. Details may be found on the calendar listing: The cost is $35 and registration is required by Nov. 16.

Garfield meal change

Garfield senior meal will be shifting once again due to scheduling conflicts. The November senior meal will now be Wednesday, Nov. 16, at noon at the Garfield Legion Grange Hall. On the menu will be ham, baked potato with all the trimmings, green beans, mixed apple salad, roll with butter and apple pie with ice cream for dessert.

Cowboy Poets

Tekoa Empire Theatre will host the Cowboy Poets for an afternoon of singing, poetry, folklore and story-telling Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m.

Members of the Cowboy Poets are Orvil Sears, Jim Aasen, Gene Buchholz and Bodie Dominguez. All members reside around the area of Clarkston and are members of the Palouse Country Cowboy Poets Association. Dominguez owns and operates a recording studio in Clarkston, and Aansen has produced two western CD’s and will have those available at this performance.

Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military and $4 for students. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m.

Colton library news

Storytimes will focus on the alphabet at the Colton Library during November. Each week children will explore a letter through color pages, crafts, stories, and a snack. Storytime is Monday at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 1 – 5.

Third Thursday after-school program Nov. 17 at the Colton Library will have a Thanksgiving theme. Librarian Holly Meyer will offer a Thanksgiving craft, puzzle sheets and a snack. Children ages kindergarten to sixth grade are welcome to join in at 3:15 p.m.

Colton/Uniontown Book Club is reading “The Water is Wide” by Pat Conroy. Discussion of the book will be Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Colton Library.

Colton Library will have bingo and pie Dec. 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. A supervised pajama party for kids will feature a movie and popcorn.

The Colton Library is open Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Empire to present

‘Aladdin’ by MCT

Tekoa Empire Theatre will host a local production of “Aladdin” under the direction of the Missoula Children’s Theatre Friday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. Ticket prices will be adults $8, senior/military $6, students (age 3-18) $4. A discount will be offered for those who want to attend both shows.
