Young CHS golf team pegs Colville victory

Colfax golfers rolled up another win Tuesday in 80-85 degree temperatures at Colville's Old Dominion course. Coach Steve Jones noted the top three finishers for the Bulldogs marked best day performances for the 18 holes on the par 72 course.

Sophomore Chance Weitze led the field with a one-over 73. Weitze had control problems on the first 12 holes but finished with birdies on 13, 14 and 15 to wrap up the finish.

Freshman Augie Allenbach finished with a 79 after carding a 44 going out and then roaring back with a one-over 35 on the second nine.

Bennett Gray, also a freshman, marked his first sub-80 card with a 78.

Colfax team score was 414 with Brian DeYoung at 89, Gunnar Aune at 95 and Cody Muir at 102.

Northwest Christian finished at 431 for second place.

McKenna Davis shot a 93 on the girls side to finish fifth back of Taylor Mitchell of St. George's who medaled at 79.

None of the schools had five girls so team scores were not recorded.

Weitze topped a nine-team field April 12 for medalist honors at a NE golf round on the Fairways course near Cheney. Weitze shot a 74, two over par.

Colfax again took the boys team honor with a 426 score for its top five players. Northwest Christian placed second with a 452 and Tekoa/Rosalia place third with a 555.

Other individual scores on the team card for the Bulldogs were Augie Allenbach 81, Bennett Gray 88, A.J. Miller 90 and Brian DeYoung 93. Gunnar Aune finished at 107.
