Awards given to LaCrosse students

LaCrosse student of character assembly for December’s trait of honesty was Wednesday, Jan. 13, in the high school pit area.

Students who earned the student of character award were as follows: Kindergarten - Jack Baser, Sayge Bowen, Brianna Camp, Morgan Martin, Gracie Schwartz; Mac I - Ty Pierson, Chloe Waddell, Grace Morris, Olivia McGregor, Mercedes Martin, Lilly Hammer; Mac II - Ben Bailey, Avery Fleming, Julia Guske, Landon Miller, Quincy Morris, Ellie Pierson, Emily Thompson, Matthew Thompson; Fifth Grade - Tanner Fleming, Lillian McGregor, Emily Wright, Zackery Zupan; Sixth Grade - Nick Webb; Seventh Grade - Zoe Bailey, Ty Harder, Genevieve McGregor, Katy McKay, Katrina Ortman; Eighth Grade - Jeremiah Cunningham, Matea Enzweiler, Trey Fleming, TJ Harder, Lauren Stubbs; Freshmen - Madison Candler, Alynn Harder, Autumn Meyers, Jordanne Webb; Sophomores - Jadyn Guske, Braden Miller, Mashayla Miller-Morris; Juniors - Kelly Angstrom, Britte Harder, Nicole Harder, Abby McGregor, Lacy Osborn, Checo Ramirez, Terrell Webb; Seniors - Jessica Guske, Eric Harder, Weston Miller, Jazlynn Webb, Shyanne Yeigh-Cook.

Several "giraffe awards" were given to people who stick out their necks: Mrs. Baser nominated Jadyn Guske for her willingness to help in all FFA activities, and Jessica Guske for receiving a Washington CTE Student Success Award. Jessica was one of 18 students across the state selected and has been invited to apply to be a CTE U.S. presidential scholar.

Teacher Matt Wysock received a giraffe award for starting the Robotics Club; the elementary teachers awarded Sara Yates with the "hot hands who draws cool pictures" award for her town murals and gorgeous bulletin boards she has drawn in the building; Mr. Wysock nominated Cathleen Parker for helping the school become partners in many activities with WSU.

Academic awards went to Matea Enzweiler for her improvement in math and Lillian McGregor and Emily Wright for their improvement in writing responses prompt using the R.A.C.E.S. technique.

The biology class then showed a video clip and explained the January trait of Integrity.

To conclude the assembly, a video clip of Kid President explaining Martin Luther King, Jr., Day was shown.
