Pac-12 plans for Colfax XC race

A logistics planning session was scheduled Wednesday at the Colfax Golf Club to plan for the Pac 12 cross country race which has been booked at the Colfax Golf Club Course for Oct. 30. The race will be the Pac-12 league event which will also be a qualifier for the national finals.

Mayor Todd Vanek said the city will participate in the planning because McDonald Park will be used as the parking area for the event. The city will also be involved on posting signs and directing traffic for the event which is scheduled to stretch over three days.

The Pac 12 cross country coaches sought a level course for the qualifier and with WSU hosting the event this year the Colfax Golf course topped the local sites for the run. The flat course along the Palouse River is expected to produce fast times for the Pac-12 qualifiers.

Setup of the course will be Oct. 28 with signs posted to direct teams and running fans to the course.

Practice runs are slated Oct. 29 with the race on Oct. 30. Both men’s and women’s Pac 12 finals will be on the Colfax course.

The men’s race is expected to extend for four laps, and the women’s race will be three laps.
