Colfax boys win state golf

Colfax boys won the state B team title Thursday at Columbia Point with four golfers finishing in the top 10 for a team placing total of 57.5.

Hunter Weitze again led the team with a 73, again one stroke back of Kenneth Sheldon of Ilwaco who carded another 72 on the second day.

Kasey Johnson finish eighth with a 78 round for a 159 total, and Chance Weitze finished one stroke back of Johnson with a 160 total after hitting an 81 on the second day.

Cody Gronning hit 83 and finished 13th with 165.

Last year, the Colfax finished fourth in the state golf final.

St. George’s Sawyer Spackman, one of the competitors on the NE loop this year, placed fifth with a 152.

Kylie Gronning moved up to a 12th place with a 96 on the second day for a 197 total behind the 152 win posted by Emily Bumgart of DeSales, the defending champion.

Other team scores for boys at Columbia Point were Ilwaco 35, Pomeory 33, St. George’s 22.5, and Life Christian 5.

Pomeroy won the girls team title with a 33 and Northwest Christian placed second with 11.5.
