Colton loses to Republic, advances as no. 4 seed

The Colton baseball team took a setback at University High last Saturday, losing to Republic 7-4. The game nonetheless advanced the Wildcats into the regional tournament as a no. 4-seed, missing its chance at a no. 3 with the loss.

Colton will play their opening regional tournament game at 1 p.m. Saturday at West Valley High School in Spokane.

Against Republic the Wildcats led 3-1 to open the fifth inning before the Tigers put together six runs and took over the game. Colton committed three errors in the process.

The first scoring in the game came in the third inning when Wildcats’ sophomore Brady Chadwick hit a two-run double. In the seventh, pushing for a comeback, Colton’s hopes ended with a line drive into double play.
