Brown, Cai book thirds at Invitational

Senior Josh Brown and junior Scout Cai each posted a third-place finish in the giant Pasco Invitational Saturday. Each placing netted six points for the Bulldogs in the giant meet which had competitors from 60 boys teams and 56 girls teams.

“It’s really something to accomplish at that level of competition,” Coach Jason Cooper commented.

Competitors get invited to the meet after hitting qualifying marks in regular competition.

The Pasco meet brings in approximately 2,000 competitors for the largest single-day meet in the county.

Sam Dailey, Olivia Mellor and Parker Warwick also qualified and represented Colfax at the meet.

Brown set a personal best with a 157-11 sling in the discus for his third place finish. The event was topped by Logan Feasline of St. Maries who hit an amazing 174-2.

Brown also placed 35th in the shotput at 42-6.25.

Cai, who cleared 5-4 last week at Ritzville, placed third in the high jump with a 5-2. The event was topped by Andrea Stapleton of Kamiakin with a 5-6.

Cai also had the best overall for the Bulldogs with a ninth place finish in the pole vault at 12-6.

Parker Warwick clocked 17.2 in the 100 hurdles for 23rd. She also placed 33rd in the 400 meter run with a time of 64.65.

Mellor hit 15-2 in the long jump and 31-6.5 in the triple jump to finish 33rd in both events. Coach Cooper noted those marks at this time in the season point to a strong second half of the campaign.

Senior Sam Dailey, who cleared 13 feet last week at Ritzville, placed 19th in the pole vault with a 12-0. Dailey, who has been having back pains, opted out of more attempts after he hit the 12 mark.

Colfax tracksters are booked to compete in a 10-team meet today at Mt. Spokane and return to Ritzville Saturday for the Undeberg Invitational.
