Michele Mitchell

Michele Jolene Mitchell, 47, resident of Thornton for the past seven years, died March 31, 2015. She resided in the Palouse area for 15 years and enjoyed raising goats. She also did extensive volunteer work with the Multiple Sclerosis Society and with veterans groups in the area.

She is survived by her partner and fiancé, Tom Engle: a daughter, Megan Parentau; a son, Nathen Burr; stepdaughter, Kimberly Nelson; stepson, Nicholas Engle, and six grandchildren.

Vicki Cochrane

Vicki Merlene Cochrane, 67, died unexpectedly at her home on Wilcox Road west of Colfax April 8, 2015. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Born in August of 1947 in Lincoln, Neb., to Robert and Carlita Lane, she grew up in Lincoln and graduated high school there in 1965. She moved to Montana where she lived briefly before moving to the Seattle-Tacoma area where she lived for nearly 30 years. She worked at a variety of jobs. She sold Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks, owned antique shops, taught vehicle painting techniques for Sherwin-Williams, and worked as a police dispatcher.

She and Allen Cochrane were married March 11, 2000, in Elbe, at the base of Mt. Rainier. They moved to the Whitman County area 13 years ago. She and Allen attended the Onecho Bible Church. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, sewing, knitting and raising chickens.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Allen, at their home, are a daughter Nancy (Steve) Selk of Endicott; son Barry Bloch of Orting; stepchildren Ric (Kate) Cochrane of Seattle and Crista (Dean) Dumais of Tacoma; brothers Jim (Joan) Lane of Florida and John (Patti) Lane of Lincoln; her mother, Carlita Lane, also of Lincoln, and five grandchildren.
