Obituaries

A celebration of life for Rayner Thomas, 94, will be Sunday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse. Mrs. Thomas died April 4, 2015, at her rural Garfield home.

Born Aug. 23, 1920, at Croydon, England, to Montague R. and Elsie (Walton) Harris, she attended schools in England. She came to the United States on the Queen Mary in 1946. She attended Wayne State University and Washington State University where she received a Master’s Degree in anthropology. She was a research assistant in anthropology at WSU for several years.

She enjoyed art, music, literature, crafts, natural science and traveling.

Survivors include one son, Stephen M. Thomas, Seattle; two daughters, Linda M. Hurley and Jean S. Wriggle both of Garfield; five brothers, Alan, Laurie, Dennis Harris, all of Cornwall, England, Stanley Harris, Melbourne, Australia, Ian Harris, Grosse Pointe, Mich .; one sister, Christine Bohn, Harbor Beach, Mich .; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, George Thomas, and a brother, Derek Harris.
