Week 10 offers four state football entries

Football matchups for the crossover round between 2B schools in the NE and SE leagues will offer four tickets to the state playoff grid which will start the following week. The 10 teams in the NE have been allowed three slots at the start of the playoffs and the four teams in the SE have been allowed one. All four of those slots will be on the line in the Nov. 7 and 8 round of games, according to the playoff grid posted last week by LRS Athletic Director Greg Whitmore.

The top six finishers in the NE and the top two in the SE will make up the eight teams competing for the four slots. Under the standard crossover format, the top teams on each side are matched against the bottom teams on the opposite side.

Asotin, Waitsburg/Prescott, DeSales and Tri-Cities Prep are the only teams in the SE. That boils down to just three league games for each entrant in a run of matchup games which will be played out at the end of the regular season.

Matchups for the four state tickets will include the NE champion against the NE sixth-place team. The SE champion will play NE number five. Second place finisher in the NE will play the fourth place finisher in the NE, and the third place finisher will play the number-two team coming out of SE.

Three other crossover games will be booked for the crossover round, but they will mark the end of the season for the six teams in the leagues.
