Bulldog girls advance to league 4-0 league

The Colfax girls hammered out two more NE league wins over the weekend to bump their record to 4-0 in the new NE race.

The Bulldogs Friday night rolled past a hard-charging Springdale team 63-33 on the home court and then traveled to Reardan where they dropped the Indians 53-21.

Now 5-1 overall, the Bulldogs appear to be on a collision course with Northwest Christian which rolled out a 69-46 win over Davenport in the Saturday league round. The Crusader girls are now undefeated at 8-0 and have been booked to play at Colfax Jan. 3 when the league rounds resume.

Next weekend the Colfax team will play in the holiday tournament in Lewiston and Clarkston.

Saturday night the Bulldogs traveled to face a Reardan team which is in a rebuilding mode after graduation of Kelsey Moos and crew.

Reardan finished the pre-Christmas segment of NE action with a 0-4 mark.

Colfax spiked a 13-1 lead over Reardan in the first quarter and had a 17-point lead, 27-10 at the halftime.

Coach Corey Baerlocher again activated the roster as the Bulldogs roared out to the big lead.

The Bulldog defense was credited with 34 turnovers in the Saturday game.

Junior Amara Huber led the Bulldogs scoring with 15 and pulled down 10 boards for a double-double night.

Friday on the Colfax court, Springdale’s girls battled the Bulldogs in the first quarter, but Colfax pulled out the cork on the second frame for a 25-point run. Huber, who led the charge, also finished with 15 on the home court Friday.

The Chargers stacked up 23 fouls in the league battle with Adrana Anderson hitting the five foul mark. The foul calls against Springdale turned out to mostly moot because the Bulldogs hit just 11-32 from the toss line.

The Bulldogs, however, hit eight threebies in the game with three of them going down in that second quarter outburst.
