St. John-Endicott football finishes season 3-7

The St. John-Endicott Eagles finished the football season last Thursday night, Nov. 7, with a 60-22 loss at Liberty Christian.

Wade West, moved to quarterback from running back for the injured Weston Whinery, led the team. He carried the ball 24 times for 200 yards and a touchdown, had a 90-yard kick return and a 60-yard touchdown pass.

The game completed the Eagles’ record at 3-7 overall, 1-7 in league.

Last year they went winless.

"I think we improved a lot over last year," said coach Steve Selk. "From a coaching perspective, we played a lot of teams really well. We made some progress. I think we’re moving in the right direction. I kind of wish we had more time. You start getting better and you run out of time."

A total of six seniors finished their football careers with the Eagles, including West, Micah Selk, Alex White, Landon Hallenius, R.J. Baltierra and Matt Gonzalez.

The Eagles also played five junior varsity games this year and went 4-1.
