Patriots end run summer run

Pullman Patriots ended a long season run with a four-game series against the Spokane Bandits. The Spokane club dropped the Patriots twice Monday at McDonald Park 13-2 nd 5-3 to end the home season at Colfax.,

Tuesday the Bandits took two more at Ferris, 13-3 and 15-0 for the four game sweep.

The final four league losses finished out the Patriots League run at 3-13 and left them out of the playoff part of the season. Overall, the Patriots posted a 8-30-1 record.

In the Monday signoff at McDonald, the Bandits rolled up 10 runs in the first three innings. The Pats avoided a shutdown on the 10-run rule by scoring twice in the bottom of the first, but the Bandits upped the margin to 13-2 at the top of the fifth. The hosts loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning, but the runners were stranded and the gam shut down at 13-2.

The Bandits totaled 15 hits with Jacob Clements rapping five RBIs. Nolan Johnson had two of the Pats six hits with an RBI in the first inning. Pitcher Hunter Redinger doubled.

In the second game, the two senior Legion clubs locked up at 0-0 over the first two frames and then the Bandits clicked off one run in each of the last five inning on the way to a 5-3 win.

The Pats launched a three-run charge in the last inning but again left the bases loaded.

Tuesday at Spokane the Bandits took the first game 13-3 with a 15-hit attack. The Spokane club had a seven run lead after the first three frames, and the Pats scored their three runs in the fifth inning. They totaled five hits.

The Bandits battered the guests with 14 hits in the second game which closes the series after five innings. The Pats had just four hits in the second game with Johnson rapping a single and double.

The Pats landed back Colfax Monday after booking a 3-2 record in the Walla Walla tournament. Patrick Jacobs rationed out eight hits to Eastside to bag an 2-0 win in the last round Sunday. The Patriots took the win with just four hits, including doubles by Steven Maley and Redinger. Wil Dedic and Jacobs had the other hits.

Saturday at Walla Walla the Patriots booked a split with a 14-7 win over Caldwell in their first game. They had a 17-hit outbreak with Dedic booking four and Bricyn Abduil rapping three doubles. Brady Ellis booked four RBIs off two hits.

The second game Saturday was an 11-4 loss to the Spokane Blue Devils with Tanner Morgan and Ellis pitching for the Patriots.

Friday the Pats were rapped 10-3 by the host Walla Walla team. In that game, they cooked 12 hits but netted just the three runs. Zac Druffel and Brady Ellis combined to throw a nine hitter at the tourney hosts.

Thursday Pullman defeated Washington FCA 8-4 with a four run charge in the top of the fifth inning led by Abdul’s triple. They scored three more in the sixth. Dedic had three hits, and Redinger had two with a double.

FCA committed five errors against the Pats.
