Whitman Library launches summer reading program

Whitman County Library invites everyone to “Dig Into Reading” during the 2013 Summer Reading program in all 14 branches. Participation, activities and prizes are for all ages.

Youth who read (or are read to) 10 books or 10 hours during the summer qualify for the completion certificate and prizes. Teens and adults can also participate by reading and reviewing three books over the summer. They’ll receive coffee drinks, pizza slices or other treats while qualifying to be included in a grand prize drawing that includes a $50 Rosauers gift certificate.

Exciting family programs booked for the summer include magician Kenneth K, comedy juggler Matt Baker, Music with Miriam, concerts from Hank Cramer, the Palouse Discovery Science Center, author Kelly Milner Halls, Judy Grey and her worms and magician Dick Frost. These programs and prizes are all brought to you by sponsorship from area businesses and individuals and the Friends of Whitman County Library.

A complete lineup of days, times and programs can be found at the Events Calendar at http://www.whitco.lib.wa.us, or “like” your library branch on Facebook for up-to-date coverage. Summer Reading signups for youth and completion forms for teens and adults can be accessed from the library’s website or toll free at 877-733-3375. Readers need not be present at library programs to participate.
