Four Colfax high golfers qualified for state

Four Colfax golfers qualified for the state finals Monday at the district finals, and the Bulldog boys took the team honor with 75.5 points.

Davenport eighth grader Palmer Guhlke booked a 11-stroke edge over Hunter Weitze of Colfax for medalist honors. Guhlke finished 158 over the 36-hole event and Weitz finished with a 169 (89-80) on the Meadow Wood course. Kasey Johnson placed third with a 173, and Cody Gronning made the state cut in ninth place with a 189. Ryan Christopherson carded a 191 and lost in a three-day playoff for the alternate spot assigned to the district.

Paige Mackleit finished with a 188 (88-100) on the Liberty Lake course to place second behind Sadie Garner of Northwest Christian who posted a 189.

The state tourney will start at Oak Brook in Tacoma next Tuesday.
