Palouse screening set for K, preschool

Palouse school will conduct a free kindergarten and preschool screening Thursday, May 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the elementary school.

Children are eligible for preschool if they are 3 or 4 years old. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be 5 years of age as of midnight, Aug. 31. Kindergarten screening for school readiness is mandatory for children who have not been enrolled in the Palouse preschool.

Parents of children birth to 2 years 11 months will complete a questionnaire while children ages 3-6 years will be given a free screening. The screening takes about 30 minutes and includes vision, hearing, language, motor and general development check. Results will be provided to the parents.

Immunization record and proof of birth are required for each child.
