McBride will lead class on five Chinese cities

Retired Colfax teacher Jack McBride will present “A Tale of Five Cities: Exploring Chinese Culture at the Colfax Library” in May as part of the Community Enrichment series. These classes run each Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and cost is $22 for the five-week session.

During the class, participants will hear about the traditions and culture of individual regions of China, based on McBride’s travels throughout the area teaching English to Chinese teachers. The classes will feature pictures, videos, books, special guests and open discussion.

“While I’m not an expert, I think I can provide valuable perspective,” he noted. McBride also promises a surprise at the conclusion of the class series.

McBride retired from Jennings Elementary School after 30 years of teaching. Jack has coached sports for even longer and at every level, including wrestling, football and track.

While Jack is known for his coaching prowess, his former students attest to his love of reading and literature and his efforts to instill that value upon them.
