Vikings take down Spartans, 6-5

McKenzie McClanahan stole second, T.O.R.’s catcher Cameron Lehn threw to second and Gar-Pal’s Brianna Brown stole home for a 6-5 victory at Garfield Tuesday evening.

The frenzied finish came after the Vikings trailed 4-0 early before scoring three runs in the third inning, only to still trail 5-3 in the seventh.

Gar-Pal made up the difference while struggling on defense.

"We always like a win," said Vikings coach Steve Witthuhn. "We played well defensively the last two innings."

Gar-Pal had four hits in the game, with one each from Lexie Rodriguez, Brown, McClanahan and Becca Cochran.

Chandler Pfaff pitched all seven innings for Gar-Pal, allowing five runs on three hits, five strikeouts and eight walks.

T.O.R.’s M’Kenna Willey pitched all seven as well, allowing six runs on four hits, two strikeouts and nine walks. Katie Renstrom led T.O.R. at the plate with three hits, including a double.

Gar-Pal (6-4 overall) will play next at Colton Saturday in a doubleheader.
