T.O.R. softball team starts 4-3

The Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia softball team is 4-3 in the new season under first year coach Whitney Bowerman.

The team had its first league competition Saturday, March 23, with a double-header at Waitsburg-Prescott. They lost 17-2 in the first game followed by a 3-1 win.

The second game provided the highlights as Alexa Lindgren went 4-for-4 with a double and pitcher M’Kenna Willey allowed no earned runs.

Also last week, the team traveled to play Lind-Ritzville-Sprague and won both games of a double-header.

In the first game, Mackenzie Reddish went 3-for-3 with a double and triple before the contest was called in the fifth inning on account of the 10-run-rule. Also, Stacey Carrothers went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

In the second game, T.O.R. lead 11-6 in the fourth inning when the Broncos’ only pitcher had to bow out.

On the mound for the Spartans, Willey pitched both games in their entirety.

The team will play next in another league contest, at home (Tekoa) vs. Asotin on Thursday. The doubleheader start times are 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

“We’re doing pretty well,” said Coach Bowerman. “We’re just making some mental mistakes, but our junior class has a lot of experience so that’s been helpful.”
