Colfax’s Jacobs allows one hit in win over Eagles

The Bulldogs’ Brent Becker fouls off a ball in the third inning at Endicott Monday. Becker, John Mellor, Brady Ellis, Garrett Burke, Jeff Davies and Mark Webber all had hits in the 10-0 win.

Patrick Jacobs fanned 15 batters and allowed just one hit Monday when the Bulldogs traveled to Endicott to play the SJE-LW Eagles in a non-leaguer.

Colfax blanked the hosts 10-0 over six innings.

Wyatt West rapped a double for the lone Eagle hit on the day. He tagged the hit with one out in the sixth before the game was shut down on the 10-run rule.

Colfax scored four runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to break up a 0-0 deadlock after the three scoreless frames.

On an overcast but bright enough afternoon, the two teams traded outs before the Bulldogs got it started in the fourth inning with a double off of the bat of senior John Mellor.

Jason Wigen started for the Eagles and Brandon Bennett took over in the fifth inning.

Jacobs helped his own cause with three of the 10 Colfax hits.

Also hitting for the Bulldogs were Mellor, single and double, Brady Ellis, double; Garrett Burke, Jeff Davies, Mark Webber and Brent Becker.

Colfax made the short road trip to Endicott after they were stormed out of a non-leaguer at Moscow last Thursday. They are slated to host Chewelah in another non-leaguer Friday at McDonald Park.

Things start to get crowded for the Eagles’ Jason Wigen in the fourth inning.
