Nighthawks finish perfect net run

First district playoff round for the SE 1Bs has been booked at Colfax on Halloween, but it will actually start Monday at Washtucna when teams resolve a tie for fourth place.

Garfield /Palouse, Liberty Christian are now booked in the Washtucna playoff. Pomeroy, which finishes its league run against Rosalia Saturday, can advance it they get past the Spartans.

The team which emerges from the ‘tucna gym with the fourth-place slot will get ticket to Colfax on Halloween.

The other two team will be in a Tuesday elimination round with paring the 5-8 teams and the 6-7 teams on the home court of the top seed schools. Those winners will get the last two tickets to Colfax on Halloween.

A second round at Colfax will be Saturday.

Tekoa/Oakesdale finished out their 8-0 sweep of the league with a four-game match win over St. John/Endicott in the last round Tuesday at Oakesdale.

The Eagles took the opener at Oakesdale 25-19, but the ‘hawks came back to win three straight, 25-19 25-15 and 25-17.

Cassie Mendoza hit 18 kills for the `hawks , and Katie Renstrom had 33 assists. Mendoza also had eight blocks.

Emily Jones had 12 kills for the Eagles and Morgan Anderson put up 32 assists.

Colton finished in second place with a big three-game win over the Vikings at Palouse in the last round Tuesday. The Wildcats ended the league run in second at 7-1.

Score for Colton’s three-game win at Palouse was 25-8 25-17 and 25-6.

Paige Vincent had 13 kills for the Wildcats, and Payton Meyer had three blocks. l RayLynn Smith put up 17 assists for the Wildcats. Jenna Moser hit five aces.

Viking hitter Cassie Thompson hit six kills in the last league match and had two blocks.

Colton will go into the playoff season with a 17-3 overall record.

The Wildcats rolled to Palouse after topping LaCrosse/Washtucna in the Thursday round at Colton. Line score for the win was 25-13 25-8 and 25-19 Jenna Moser hit 11 kills against the Tigercats , and Kaden Dahmen had 15 assists and hit three aces. Kaitlin Druffel had 21 digs out of the back court.

The Vikings Thurday defeated Rosalia in three games to stay in the hunt. Cassie Thompson hit 22 kills on the home court and Chandler Pfaff had 22 assists. Holly Leendertsen hit seven aces.

The Vikings finished at 4-4 for the fourth-place tie.
