Colfax netters take Freeman in 4 games

Colfax volleyball team defeated Freeman in four games Tuesday in a match on the Scotties’ court to start the regular season. Both teams seemed to relish the first round match.

“It was a good match. It seemed like when we took the lead, we really went into a cruise mode, and when they took the lead they did the same thing,” Bulldog Coach Sue Doering commented.

Senior setter Amelie Bruya booked 32 assists with three serving aces. She hit 19 of 20 serves. Taylor Larsen hit 14 kills and three clocks.

Bailey Mackleit and Amara Huber each had nine digs in the back court against the Scotties.

Saturday, the Bulldogs hosted Pullman in a jamboree mode which allowed them to play six games as a tuner for the season.

Pullman this year is coached by Jill Solbrack, a Colfax net grad and assistant coach on Doering’s club. Solbrack took over the Pullman club from David Weitz, another CHS grad.

Colfax booked a comeback win in the first game and finished with wins in five of the six games against Pullman varsity and junior varsity.

The Bulldogs will travel to Pullman today, Thursday, to play the ‘hounds again in a match format.
