Reardan, ACH wrap up titles for Eastside run

Reardan's girls, the undefeated power in the Bi-County race this season, booked a 65-57 win over Brewster Saturday to defend their title in the 2B girls race. The Indians had to climb back in the second half of the title game to top the Bears.

The title win wraps Reardans's season at 27-0, a record that included a sweep of the Bi-County race and playoffs. Included in the string of wins by Coach Ed Shields' team were 56-42 and 65-43 wins over the Colfax Bulldogs.

Reardan will graduate four seniors off their title team, but top scorer Kelsey Moos will be back for another year. Moos had 13 against the Bears. Chantel Heath, also a junior, led the Indians in the title game with 22 points.

Departing from the Indian squad will be Lauren Schulz, Savannah Ward, Emily Roberts and Ali Lillengreen.

Moos averaged over 18 points for the Indians during the season.

Katy Burge, a 6-2 junior who averaged over 12 points this year will also be back for the Indians who figure to again be a tough challenge for league foes in the 2012-13 campaign.

Almira-Coulee-Hartline, the team which took out Colton in the boys’ regional round last week at University High, finished with a 62-58 comeback win over Valley Christian of Spokane to win the 1B title.

Derek Issaak, who hit 34 points last week against Colton, scored 44 points in the title game to set a 1B one-game record.

ACH trailed the big Panther club 22-34 before Issak went on a rampage in the second half. He canned 16 in the last quarter to fight off the Panthers.

The Warriors and Panthers split wins during the season.

Sunnyside Christian, the team which stopped Rosalia, the other SE entry last week at U-Hi, landed in fourth place in the state 1B show with a 62-36 win over Muckleshoot in the last day of action.

Trevor Wagenaar, who had a big night against the Spartans at U-Hi, finished with 33 in the Knights' last game.
