SE girls league matchups will erase early win strings

After a first weekend of one-sided scores in the SE girls race, early leaders will collide this weekend. First collision will be at Rosalia where the Tekoa/Oakesdale Nighthawks will visit.

Both teams will take to the court with 2-0 SE league records. The Nighthawks dropped SJE 59-46 in the first round Friday at Tekoa with Alexandria Overton dropping 20 points.

Saturday at Garfield the ‘hawks crunched the GP Vikings 46-27 with Courtenay Perry hitting 11.

Rosalia will host with its own 2-0 mark posted on road trips south of the Snake River in the opening weekend. They bagged a 59-10 runaway win at Touchet Friday and a 42-33 trim of Pomeroy in the Pirates’ gym on Saturday night. Briann Maley topped the scoring both nights.

If the ‘hawks prevail Friday at Rosalia they will put their early string up against Colton at Oakesdale in the Saturday round. The Wildcats will travel to Oakesdale after making the long trip down to Touchet in the Friday round.

Colton Monday bumped their record up to 4-0 with a 65-36 win over Lapwai, an Idaho power club in their own division. The Wildcats Paige Vinicent booked 19 on the trip to Lapwai.

Colton rolled to Idaho for Monday’s non-leaguer after they defeated Pomeroy 65-37 Friday and LaCrosse/Washtucna 89-7 Saturday.

In other non-league games Tuesday, Garfield/Palouse girls, who booked a split in league action over the weekend, dropped neighboring Potlatch 52-36 at Garfield with Kaycie Adair hitting 17 points, and Terrie Taylor hitting 13. The Vikings are now 3-1 overall.

SJE girls, who also booked a split in the league weekend, cooked a 44-26 at Odessa with Gretchen Van Lith hitting 12.

LaCrosse/Washtucna, which sustained two defeats over the league weekend, pegged a 43-40 win over Tri-Cities Prep at Washtucna with Logan Harder and Anne Fleming each hitting 15.
