Siegel wins Dayton race

Heather Siegel clocked 22:35.9 to take the 5000 meter varsity cross country race at Dayton last Wednesday. Siegel was more than 20 seconds ahead of the number-two finisher, Victoria Nunes of Tri-Cities prep. Other finishers for the Eagles, who have added LW runners this season, were Meghan Gfeller 7th-24:34.65, Jade Porubek 11th at 25:40.32, Tallan Smith 18th-27:48.82; and Allie Rich 25th-35:01.34.

At the Seaport Invitational Saturday in Clarkston, Siegel finished 11th in the big three-mile run with a 21:24.46 behind the 18:55.84 win posted by Sarel Loewus of Pullman. Other finishers for the Eagles were Gfeller, 29th at 23:01.57; Annie Bailey, 33rd at 23:29.32; Smith, 50th at 27:01.13; and Rich, 60th at 32:48.0.

Caleb Rich led the SJLW boys at Dayton with a 16th place finish at 20:59.68 behind the 16:58.79 win posted by Seth Deal of Waitsburg. Also placing were Darcy Stamper, 20th at 22:09.22; and Justin Wargo, 26th at 23:27.54.

Waitburg’s Deal cranked out a 15:43 to also win at Seaport Saturday. Deal finished more than 25 seconds ahead of Chase Teigen of Asotin. Finishers for SJLW were Rich, 44th at 19:48.85, Stamper 53rd at 20:29.24; Kaleb Kolb, 55th at 20:35.245, and Wargo, 63rd at 22:24.08.
