Bulldog girls win pair of road tilts

Colfax girls booked a third straight win at the Okanogan tourney Saturday with a two-game crunch of Davenport in the title game. The long trip to Okanogan was followed by a three game sweep of the Genesee Bulldogs Tuesday night at Genesee.

At Okanogan, Colfax and Davenport landed in the title match after Colfax booked the most game wins in pool play. Colfax and two other teams booked 2-1 marks in pool play, but Colfax bagged the ticket to the title round because they had one more game win.

Colfax finished off the Gorillas 25-14, 25-17 to claim the tourney title.

In pool play the Bulldogs bested Ephrata 25-19 25-23 and Zillah 25-10 and 25-13. Host Okanogan took out Colfax 26-24 18-25 15-13.

Getting that middle game win put Colfax into the championship round.

Coach Doering said Colfax had to adjust their playing groove with Misty Skelton and Becca Hardy out of the lineup. Lauren Moore played the libero slot for Skelton and finished the day with 25 digs.

Amara Huber had a strong day with 10 aces off a 31-38 serving mark. She had a run of 10 points against Zillah.

At Genesee Tuesday, Colfax prevailed in three straight 25-20 27-25 and 25-23.

Next match slated for Colfax will be a visit by Newport, a long-time foe from the NE-A days.
