Colfax mat crew books home meet

Colfax wrestlers are booked for their lone home meet Tuesday when three Bi-County teams visit for a multi-meet slated to start at 6 p.m. League teams Reardan, Lind/Ritzville and Liberty are expected to send wrestlers with Dayton also on the guest list from the SE.

The meet will be the last action for the mat crew before the Christmas break.

Tuesday the Bulldogs went to Freeman for a multi match. Cody Evans was undefeated in the 130 class with pins over two Medical Lake wrestlers and one from Kettle.

Justin King was pinned by two Selkirk wrestlers and pinned a KF foe.

Ben Cochran was pinned by two KF heavyweights and pinned a Freeman opponent.

They are booked into the Pomeroy tourney Dec. 29.

Four Colfax wrestlers combined for a 16-13 record over the weekend at Potlatch. The Bulldogs wrestled in a double meet at Potlatch Friday and then returned to the Logger gym for a 12 team tournament on Saturday. Evans notched a 6-2 tally, Nellis 3-5, King 4-4 and Cochran 3-2.

Evans placed second in the tournament after being pinned in the title match. He advanced to the championship round with two big decisions and two pins.

Kevin Nellis booked a 3-2 record Saturday, all wins and loses by pins.

King pinned three foes and lost two on decisions, and Cochran who did not wrestle Friday, pinned three foes and sustained pins from two other foes in the heavyweight class of the Saturday tourney.

Friday, Evans booked two pins and a loss by decision, Nellis was pinned three times, King won one match on a decision and lost two on pins.
