Hoopster aim at Scottie start

Colfax basketball players are now aiming at a Dec. 10 season start at Freeman. Third-year Coach Reece Jenkin reports he has had 22 players in the gym since practices began Nov. 15. He expects about 14 more recruits off the football team which will head for the state title game at Tacoma Saturday.

The total of 36 players will campaign on varsity, junior varsity and C squad teams. Jeremy Bogle will be back as jayvee coach, and Randy Daniels will be back as C squad coach.

Jenkin said the football recruits, including two or three core hoopsters from last year, will probably not have enough court practice time to play when the team heads for Freeman. Players are required to log five practices, and the grid players will be allowed a couple of days off before hitting the gym boards Wednesday.

The teams should be at full force for the next game date, the Dec. 17 home opener with Lakeside slated to visit here for a non-leaguer.

Colfax girls will also launch Dec. 10 at Freeman after their jamboree with Lakeside and Colton was snowed out Tuesday.
